A graduation photoshoot captures the milestone of completing an academic program with professional portraits that highlight the graduate’s personality, achievements, and style. It typically includes a mix of posed and candid images taken in settings that reflect the graduate’s story—campus landmarks, studio backdrops, or meaningful outdoor locations.

Congratulations on your milestone graduation photos are a beautiful way to capture accomplishment, personality, and the transition to your next chapter. Below is a concise guide to planning, posing, and getting the most from your graduation photoshoot with Nadja Britt Photography.

Before the shoot

  • Wardrobe:

    • Bring your cap and gown plus at least one or two polished outfit options (e.g., a dress, blouse and skirt, or shirt and blazer). Aim for solid colors or subtle patterns; avoid overly busy prints that distract.

    • Coordinate but don’t match exactly if you’ll be photographed with family or friends. Neutrals, jewel tones, and pastels photograph well.

    • Include comfortable shoes for walking between locations and a second pair for posed shots if needed.

    • Bring simple accessories (necklace, watch, cufflinks) to personalize looks.

    Hair and makeup:

    • Schedule hair and makeup to be done shortly before the shoot so it stays fresh. Matte finishes reduce shine under bright light.

    • Bring a small touch-up kit: powder, lip color, comb/brush, hairspray.

    Props and mementos:

    • Diploma cover, honor cords, tassel, medals, class ring, school pennant, or a book relevant to your major.

    • If you want cap toss photos, bring a spare tassel or secure the tassel so it’s visible when the cap is off.

    Logistics:

    • Arrive 10–15 minutes early to relax and get settled.

    • Communicate any must-have shots or special requests ahead of time.
